Like a lot of young girls I fell in love with the horse. Yes, it was Black Beauty first, then the Arabian. I began sketching horses in my spare time using the cooled embers from our fireplace. Capturing the anatomy and muscular strength was easy for me because all I could envision was having my own someday.
Today I have three and all three have found their way on canvas and in my equine massage classes that I teach.
I had no idea, at the time, the door that was being opened for me. Studying equine Anatomy for the purpose of sketching and painting went full circle into Equine Physical Therapy, Saddle Fit and Repair and the birth of Balance Freedom EPT.
Almost twenty years ago began serious studies into the Equine world, raising and training, helping others with unmet challenges, which in hind site were the result of structural and human error. Yes sorry to say many bad attitudes of the Equine are a result of what we unintentionally and intentionally do to them.
Which led to Certification in Massage Therapy, Orthopedic Manipulation, Saddle Fit and Repair. Further studies, through an invite to Tufts University, where students engaged and swapped experiences while dissecting equine cadavers. Our lab presented an in depth examination of tendons, ligaments, origin and insertion of muscles and the fascinating net work of Fascia.
As horsemen we have come a long way from the ole adage "Bute um an ride um"
We now understand a balanced foot , conformation and well fit saddle is the sum of Balanced Freedom.
