A little treasure found during my Cadaver Lab at Tufts University....
Hint; the position your horse lays down on is the position he/she laid on in the womb. This little guy would have had issues bending to the right.
Freeing up fascia restriction early, before training and work under saddle enhance performance and progression .
How does your horse respond when approached with a saddle? Any negative response is and indication of one or more things....But primarily discomfort. Pain comes in many forms. Emotional and Physical are two primary issues in the Equines life, both commonly caused by human error.
Riding English or Western having a saddle evaluated and properly fit to your horse is vital to their performance and emotional well being.
Horses being herd animals need to appear strong and healthy. They will endure a lot of discomfort so as not to be cast out. However this is where the bad attitude and behavior will show itself.
One of the first indication is the expression on your horses face...almost a discontented snarl.. then pinning of the ears... biting the air... then you, upon tighting the cinch... Sounds extreme?
These are very common behaviors that should send red flags to the owner that the horse has been compromised and has pain issues.
I also take great pride in developing the equines mind and behavior. It is my belief and practice to observe and understand the horse from their perspective. Which enables me to communicate to them in a kind yet clear affective manner.
I allow the spirit of the horse to remain while quiteing the fear so as to elevate confidence.
